  1. Text  Happy Chinese New Year: 2009 is Year of the Ox 3 years ago

    Chinese New Year 2009
Photo above shows our basket full of circle-shaped fruits.

The Chinese method of identifying every year with an animal has greatly influenced a lot of people, Chinese and non-Chinese alike.

The 12 animals representing the Chinese calendar years, in no particular order are the following: Rat, Rabbit, Tiger, Dragon, Ox, Pig, Monkey, Horse, Snake, Dog, Goat, and Rooster. The Chinese Year 2009 is identified as the Year of the Ox, which will start on January 26, 2009. This day marks the start of the 15-day celebration that runs until Februray 9, 2009.

The years that fall under the Ox are 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, and of course 2009. Following the 12 year cycle, the next Year of the Ox would be on 2021.

So what now? People who were born in the year of the Ox are said to be patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.

Do the descriptions fit you? If not, no worries. Remember that these are just studies of some sort, so don’t depend too much on what are seen and read. We are still the ones who defines our life and decisions, of course with the help of our own God; and these information are just some FYI for us.

So to all the Chinese, Filipino-Chinese, Chinese-looking, feeling Chinese, or Chinese-seeking communities, Xin Nian Kuai Le… Gong Xi Fa Cai - HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2009 TO ALL!
