While myriads of people are enjoying their morning sleep, out-of-town/out-of-the-country trips or vacation and relaxation, here I am sitting in front of the computer, coming to office to man ticket queues, e-mail, and hotline. Yes, you heard it right, I have been coming to the office the whole week from 8am-5pm while everybody is having fun.
I don’t blame myself for being here because this was what I expected, having known from the start that this job has shifts and this job supports global clients. But I do think that we can just work from home. I just wish that the Philippines has hotspots everywhere, so that I can enjoy the week while still being able to man the queues.
As I look at it, this year’s regular holidays will be regular working days for me. Luckily, for the days that most of Manila’s population are working, I’ll be off to avail of my compensatory day-offs earned during holidays.
At the end of the day, I just tell myself to think of what’s positive — that I get paid well, that I will earn day offs and use it for rest on days that I need to, that I am blessed with a job, that I am capable of doing tasks that other people aren’t, that I have gigs/events to look forward to on weekends, and that I am at least breathing and is able to do the things I want and need to do everyday.
Just something I’m still thinking about:
I can’t identify if I’m better working in the morning shift or night shift. Both has pros and cons. If I’m in the morning shift: I eat 3 meals a day, maintain my weight, and do more things after office (pros), but I lack sleep and it’s so hard to come to office during rush hour (cons). When I’m on the night shift: I sleep longer, work out regularly, and go to office without much traffic (pros), but I lose so much weight—about 10 lbs, and the sun is super hot in the afternoon (cons).
P.S.: I’m so excited for June!!!! I’ll have my time off from work in June! That’s 3 days!!! Wooohoooo!
